Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if you are the right photographer for me?
I completely understand that you want to find the right fit for your photography needs. I would suggest you initially read out my “About Me” page as this will tell you a little about me and why I became a pet photographer. You can also read testimonials on my Website. Also, review my portfolio to see if my style of photography appeals to you. Finally, I believe in the personal touch so unless you indicate otherwise, I will visit you at your home where I can meet you, your family and pet(s) and you’ll get to know me. I am confident that you’ll conclude that we’re a good fit and if not, I sincerely hope hope you find the right person.
Is it going to be really expensive?
I appreciate that I am not the cheapest photographer in this area but I am worth it! The packages I offer have a great deal of value packed into them and my past clients are always delighted with the service and products I provide. In fact, many come back time and time again! That being said, you will know your budget and I fully respect any decision you make this regard. If you don’t book with me initially I hope that we have the opportunity to work again in the future.
I will explain my pricing at the various touch points throughout the process so you fully understand the commitment you are making. I will also provide you with a product pricing guide when you book your photography experience. I offer image credit because it means you are not locked into purchasing specific products. You order what best fits your needs, style, and budget. Most clients tend to invest between £500 and £1000 on their photographic session and artwork. Some spend a lot more than this but there is no minimum spend and there really is something for everyone.
What do you photograph?
I photograph any combination of people and pets. Primarily my clients have dogs but I am completely comfortable and open to photographing cats, tortoises, rabbits, etc.
What areas do you offer your photography services in?
I am happy to travel as far as necessary as it is important to me to give you the opportunity to have some stunning wall art of your treasured pet. Within a 30 mile radius I do not charge any travel fees but any further, I charge 45p per mile.

I have multiple pets, can you photograph them all?
The simple answer is Yes! The package includes 2 dogs and generally there is a £25-50 fee for additional pets. Get in touch with your needs and I can advise you more accurately.
What if my dog can’t be off their Lead?
No problem! This is actually perfectly ok and with the magic of my Photoshop skills collars, harnesses and leads can be removed. Every session comes with complimentary basic leash removal in Photoshop. Plus I have helpful tips and tricks to use during your session if your dog is on a lead.
What if my dog isn’t well-trained?
Don’t worry at all! Most of my clients don’t have perfectly mannered dogs and its okay! I have worked with dogs of all breeds, ages, and training levels and had successful photo sessions. Of course, having basic obedience skills or fun tricks can help make the photo session more fun and give us more control in the final images. However, it’s not a requirement and this shouldn’t hold you back because of it. I offer obedience training advice if you are interested.
What if my dog is high energy?
I am used to working with pets that get the “zoomies” or have a strong prey drive. I always do my best to keep the photography session low key and stress-free. If you are worried about how your dog will handle a photo session, just let me know when booking and I will plan accordingly.
My pet needs time to warm up to new people. Will a photo shoot stress him/her out?
I am used to working with pets of different breeds and personalities in all sorts of situations and always do my best to keep the photography session low key and stress-free.
If you are worried about how your pet will handle a photo session, just let me know when booking and we’ll plan accordingly. Part of the purpose of the in-home consultation I provide is to provide your pet the opportunity to meet and get used to me so they don’t just see a complete stranger on the day of the photo shoot. I will also offer tips and tricks to make the photo session go smoothly AND get still some stunning images.
My dog is elderly/ill and time is limited. I would like to schedule right away. Is this possible?
DEFINITELY YES! Please don’t worry, I’ll will move heaven and earth to schedule a prompt session to photograph your dog right away. Get in touch for a no obligation chat. I offer special discounts for pets with a terminal diagnosis.
Can I/We be in the photos?
Absolutely yes! You are completely welcome to be in as many photos as you like. Some clients want a combination of images with just their dog and also people with their pet. Just let me know in advance and I can plan from there. There may be some additional fees if multiple numbers are involved but I can advise you.
What if I don't want to be in the photos?
No problem! Many of my clients just want photos of their dogs and don’t want to be in front of the camera! Bear in mind though that you can be in the photo without having to look at the camera with the use of creative angles, such as you gazing at your pet (focus on the animal and not you), waist down, paw on hands, pet between your feet, from behind and other views that don’t focus on your face.
What should I bring to the Photo Session?
Before your session, we’ll discuss everything you might need to consider for a perfect session. Usually you personally don’t need to bring much, other than the basics, leads, favourite toys if appropriate but it all depends on your dog and the type of photos you are hoping for. We’ll definitely cover this specifically for you during our initial planning appointment.
Can I include props?
Yes, you are welcome to include anything meaningful to you in the photos. During our initial planning appointment, we’ll discuss this and if you’re looking to add props I can throw out ideas and suggestions. Past clients have incorporated props such as dog birthday cakes, balloons, signs, favorite toys, blankets, and more. Bear in mind that you may need to do some training with your pet if they are not used to interacting with the prop.
What if the weather is bad?
When I schedule appointments I always advise my clients to be flexible with timings for the session as appropriate weather conditions are vital for perfect photos. If the weather forecast isn’t optimal, such as rain or bright sunshine, we’ll coordinate and agree a new date.
What if I don’t have any Location ideas?
Not a problem, I have an extensive list of locations! We can talk about the options and I can show you photos or videos of some location choices. I can check out photos or videos of your backyard. Regardless, we’ll find the perfect location for you, your dogs, and the style you’re going for.
Can my photo session take place at more than one location?
Absolutely. As we plan your session, we can discuss location options.
What if I don’t know what to wear?
No problem! I share my tips and tricks with a “What to Wear Guide” and can even offer advice on your specific choices over email or in person during the initial consult.
Do you offer traditional Studio Photography?
Not at this current moment. However in future I plan to expand to studio style photography in the comfort of your own home.
What happens after my photo session?
We all go home tired and happy! Then I start the behind the scenes work on editing and organizing your images and selecting the very best to show you! We’ll coordinate our schedules for the viewing and ordering session, which is our next step together. I usually aim to do this within a day or two after your photo session. We will meet to view the images and I will also show you samples of the products available for purchase. My clients tell me this process is very helpful and exciting! After you’ve made your selections, I go to work and complete the Master Art Retouching of your chosen images so they are absolutely perfect. I then order your products. When I receive your profucts, I hand deliver them to you at home unless you specify otherwise and you get to unwrap your treasured artwork. This is my favourite part and I never tire at seeing the emotional response of my delighted clients!
How long does the process take?
Generally, from the Photo Session to when I Hand Deliver your Order, I tell my clients to expect it to take between 4-8 weeks,. There are a number of factors that affect this but in most cases it takes around 6 weeks.
If you have a deadline or a timeline you’d like to meet, just let me know in the beginning of the process and I will always work with you as best I can.
